Independent Movie Marketing
This blog is about personal branding. One of the major factors is, of course, the entertainment industry. Especially since their strong personal brands are where the money is. To be honest, I’m an idea lover. Others collect stamps and are really happy if they find a new one they didn’t have before, but I’m a collector of ideas and I’m grabbing every one I can find.
This love of ideas demands my attention all the time. Today, I just found some papers stuck to a lot of cars here in Munich. By taking a look at them, I found the following message written on them:
It means roughly “Dear Owner of the car with the licence plate M-US xxxx, you are desperate to watch the cinema movie ‘Your Days of Plenty Are Numbered!’ Have Fun!”
I found this idea quite nice. It’s just photocopied with the number of the car written by hand by the person sticking it to each car. I’d love to know the results. On the one hand, it looks like someone has damaged your car and just left a short message and number so everyone will read it. It is not clean cut, just done by hand. But what I’m astonished about is that this movie has already been in the theaters since November and even ran at Cannes. I looked up a city movie magazine, but even there it wasn’t listed any longer.
Why am I posting this here? Well, first, no one else has covered it as far as I know. No blog, no newspaper, and I didn’t find anything on the web about it. And it’s a nice idea: It is handwritten, so somewone will be much more likely to read it than a promo postcard, and because it is handwritten, it’s easy to personalize for every car. A nice idea for promoting any other (local) product.
